The University of Ilorin Senate has approved the appointment of three of its retirees as emeritus professors.
The retirees honored with this title are Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, Prof. Olu Obafemi, and Prof. Musbau Akanji.
This announcement was made in a statement on Thursday by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun.

Akogun confirmed that during its 304th meeting on Thursday, the university’s governing body approved the emeritus appointments.
Prof. Oloyede, who retired in October 2024, is a former Vice-Chancellor of the university and currently serves as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
Prof. Obafemi, a distinguished scholar in English and Dramatic Literature, retired in 2020.
Prof. Akanji, a notable Biochemistry scholar who retired in 2021, is a former Vice-Chancellor of both Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
