The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially refuted claims that Vice President Kashim Shettima might be dropped as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 elections, labeling such reports “baseless and misleading.”
In a press release on Monday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, asserted that the President and Vice President are firmly united in executing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Morka observed, “Our attention has been drawn to a growing media frenzy about the possible replacement of Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate to President Bola Tinubu under the platform of our great party ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He further noted that while the rumors began quietly, “they recently assumed a new dimension with the naming of specific individuals as possible replacements for Vice President Shettima.”
In response, the party declared “in categorical terms that the stories are purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless.”
Morka emphasized that the administration remains preoccupied with economic reforms and improving the lives of citizens rather than early electioneering.
“Under our laws and electoral regulations, the ban on political activities remains in force,” he stated, adding that the party’s priority is “supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and entrenching its bold reforms that are now steadily transforming the economy, building prosperity, and uplifting the living conditions of our people.”
The ruling party also issued a stern warning to its own members and government appointees to stay focused.
The APC urged “our ministers, senior government and party officials to avoid, wittingly or unwittingly, stoking needless speculations, and to focus on their primary duty of diligent service to government and our party, and to bolster the success and achievements of President Tinubu, our inimitable and visionary leader.”
