Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has fired back at former Ekiti State Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose, labeling him a “serial political gossip” and urging the public to ignore his “beer parlour tales of infamy” regarding potential vice-presidential pairings.
The rebuttal follows a claim by Fayose that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had agreed to run as Atiku’s vice-presidential candidate, allegedly promising a ₦10 billion campaign contribution.
In a scathing statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku dismissed the story as a total fabrication.

Shaibu clarified that no such horse-trading occurred during Atiku’s recent visit to former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida, asserting that “at no time did former Vice President Atiku Abubakar engage in the imaginary horse-trading described in that laughable script.”
Shaibu characterized Fayose’s claims as “insider fiction — manufactured to mislead, distract, and provoke,” rather than actual information.
He described the viral report as a “shameless concoction — a tissue of lies stitched together by a serial purveyor of political gossip whose relevance survives only on controversy, distortion, and cheap propaganda.”
The statement categorically denied every aspect of the rumor, noting: “There were no negotiations over vice-presidential tickets. There were no discussions about ₦10 billion contributions. There were no zoning manipulations. There were no delegate-delivery guarantees. And there is certainly no clandestine ‘Dubai meeting’ on any such agenda.”
Shaibu further criticized Fayose for attempting to manufacture political relevance by dragging serious national figures into made-up dramas.
He noted that Atiku’s political dealings are “broad-based, principled, and national in scope — not the narrow, transactional theatrics invented in that publication.”
The statement concluded by warning that although falsehoods may trend temporarily, they eventually collapse, maintaining that Atiku “does not transact politics in secrecy, bribery, or transactional desperation.”
