2027: Ododo, Kogi Youths Purchase N100m Nomination Form For Tinubu

In anticipation of the 2027 general elections, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo accompanied a group of Kogi youths to the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Monday to donate 100 million for the purchase of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Nomination and Expression of Interest forms.

This move represents one of the first major financial pledges toward the President’s potential re-election campaign, intended to cover party costs if he officially decides to run for a second term.

Accepting the cheque, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda praised the act as “bold and symbolic,” and suggested that other groups planning similar donations might need to “reconsider” now that this standard has been set.

He noted that while another group had shown interest, the Kogi youths were the first to provide actual funds.

“We are seeing young people from Kogi State taking decisive action — not asking what the government will do for them, but what they can do to support Mr President,” Yilwatda remarked.

He explained that the youth group is motivated by what they perceive as a stabilizing economy and better security, adding, “They also acknowledge the opportunities given to young Nigerians in governance.”

The chairman highlighted that the administration has actively integrated young people into strategic roles, stating, “That is why they have donated N100 million for the President to procure his nomination and expression of interest forms. We are proud of Kogi youths.”

Governor Ododo echoed these sentiments, noting that the current administration has offered the youth “unprecedented opportunities” and that he personally is a “beneficiary of that opportunity.”

He characterized the 100 million gift as a “voluntary demonstration of appreciation and confidence in the President’s leadership.”

While the 2027 election timetable has not been officially released by INEC, this early mobilization comes as the presidency continues to defend its significant economic reforms, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and forex unification.

Despite the initial inflation and economic hardship these policies caused, the APC views recent local election wins as “endorsements of the President’s reform agenda.”
