NDC Announces Dates For Primaries, Prices For Presidential, Governorship, Senate, House Of Reps And State House Of Assembly Forms

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially rolled out its schedule for the sale of forms, screening exercises, and primary elections in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

In a move that signals the party’s readiness for the upcoming polls, the presidential expression of interest and nomination forms have been pegged at a total of ₦60 million (₦20 million for Expression of Interest and ₦40 million for the nomination form).

For those eyeing the governorship seat, the combined cost is ₦30 million, which includes a ₦10 million fee for the Expression of Interest and ₦20 million for the nomination form.

A statement jointly signed by the National Chairman, Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and the National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, also revealed the costs for other elective positions:

  • Senate: ₦8 million

  • House of Representatives: ₦6 million

  • State House of Assembly: ₦2.5 million

The sale of these forms is set to begin today, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and will run through Monday, May 18, 2026. Following this, the screening and interview phase to determine aspirant eligibility will take place from May 19 to May 21, 2026. The party has urged all contenders to arrive for screening with all necessary credentials and supporting documents.

According to the schedule, any appeals resulting from the screening will be heard on May 25 and 26.

Primary elections for various offices are slated for May 27 and 28, while the high-stakes Presidential primary will be held on May 29, 2026, in Abuja. Governorship primaries, meanwhile, will be conducted at the local government level.

The NDC leadership emphasized that all aspirants must sign an undertaking adhering to the party’s code of conduct. To ensure a credible and fair outcome, the party announced it would utilize the “open secret ballot” system.

“The NDC assured members and aspirants of a transparent, inclusive, and democratic process in the sale of forms and conduct of primaries,” the statement read, affirming the party’s commitment to internal democracy.
