The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has voiced strong confidence that the ruling party will gather over 10 million votes in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
He pointed to the party’s rapidly growing membership and the widespread reach of various federal intervention programs as major factors that will secure this victory.
Yilwatda made these assertions during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday. He was speaking on the heels of the APC presidential primary, where President Bola Tinubu clinched the party’s 2027 ticket after pulling a massive 10.9 million votes.
When asked if the APC could actually pull off those same numbers during the main general election, Yilwatda explained that the party’s actual support network has expanded far past its official register.
“More than that, these are our members,” he said.

The party chairman maintained that millions of citizens who are currently benefiting from various Federal Government initiatives will likely convert that support into votes for the APC come 2027.
“In my own thinking, most students are members of our party. We have about 1.5 million students who are beneficiaries of the student loan scheme. Their school fees are paid completely, and many of them have parents, brothers, and family members,” he said.
He further noted that people covered under the national health insurance scheme, alongside laborers working on massive national infrastructure projects, are naturally positioned to support the ruling party.
“We have added about four million Nigerians to the health insurance scheme, especially retired, elderly, and vulnerable citizens. Do you think they will vote for another party aside from ours?” he asked.
To back his claims, Yilwatda highlighted major ongoing projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Badagry road construction, and the railway line extension to Kano, noting that thousands of Nigerians are earning a living either directly or indirectly from these projects.
He insisted that the APC stands as the most structured political movement in the country, boasting around 12.7 million registered members nationwide and a highly solid system for handling internal disagreements.
