On Friday, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) separated itself from alleged endorsement lists making the rounds in various states, especially within the South East region.
The party characterized these documents as unauthorized and stated they do not represent the party’s official stance leading up to the primaries.
In a statement released by Osa Director, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, the NDC clarified that its national leadership had not cleared or been informed about the lists that reportedly feature the names of endorsed candidates.

The party pointed out that the omission of numerous candidates who had legitimately bought the party’s Expression of Interest Forms only highlights that the lists are fake.
“The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has become aware of purported endorsement lists currently circulating across several states, particularly in the South East, claiming that certain individuals have been endorsed by the party,” the statement said.
“We wish to state categorically that such lists do not represent the position of the party and do not contain the names of several aspirants who officially purchased the party’s Expression of Interest Forms.”
The political party emphasized that its leadership has not cleared any endorsement list, calling on party members, stakeholders, and citizens to overlook the files.
“The national leadership of the NDC is not aware of any such endorsement lists, nor has any list been authorised or approved by the party leadership,” the statement added.
“Consequently, all NDC State Executive Committees, party faithful, stakeholders, and the general public are advised to disregard these lists in their entirety, as they are not official documents of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.”

Furthermore, the NDC repeated its previous stance that every aspirant who properly bought the Expression of Interest Forms and cleared the screening exercise will have the right to contest in the primaries.
The party noted that these primaries will take place using either consensus agreements or direct primary elections, keeping with democratic ideals and the constitution of the party.
The NDC also reaffirmed that it remains dedicated to openness, equity, and proper procedures across the entirety of its internal voting operations.
