The Nigeria Police Force successfully apprehended Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-styled Director-General of the alleged “Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council,” in Osun State on Tuesday.
The arrest followed a bench warrant issued by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja after Adeyemi repeatedly failed to appear for his arraignment on an eight-count charge of conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation.
Prior to the arrest, Adeyemi had managed to evade authorities for over a week, reportedly keeping his mobile phones switched off to avoid detection.
While a team from the Department of State Services (DSS) had been trailing him, the police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), led by CSP Moses Lohor, eventually took over the operation.
An anonymous security source noted: “The arrest (of Adeyemi) took place on Tuesday morning by the IRT squad, who immediately moved him to Abuja. After he was arrested, he was taken to Ibadan and from there to Abuja.”
The arrest was officially confirmed by the Personal Assistant to the Force Public Relations Officer, Aminu Koji, who stated: “We have just confirmed the arrest of Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi by a team of the Intelligence Response Team in Osun State.”
During the court proceedings leading to the warrant, Adeyemi’s counsel, Genesis Francis, argued that his client was absent due to fears for his life and had written to President Bola Tinubu requesting protection. Justice Umar dismissed this, stating, “The court will help him be alive,” before ordering the arrest and adjourning the case until September 30, 2026.
The police filed an eight-count charge against Adeyemi and two accomplices—Femi and Anu, who remain at large—on November 27, 2025. Investigators allege the group orchestrated a massive fraud by:

Forging presidential appointment letters, State House letterheads, and official seals to create an illusion of government legitimacy.

Falsely presenting Adeyemi as the Director-General of the council, which the Presidency has officially denied exists.
The operation was led by CSP Moses Lohor, a figure known for both his high-profile security work and past controversies.
While widely respected in Osun State for his role in maintaining stability in Ilesa and surrounding areas, Lohor faced legal trouble in 2024.
He was previously ordered for arrest and prosecution by the Inspector General of Police following the shooting of the Chairman of the Osun State Motor Transport System, Comrade Iyanda Alowonle, while Alowonle was in police custody.
