A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday dismissed a lawsuit aimed at forcing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize and publish the Kabiru Turaki-led interim National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In his ruling, Justice Salim Ibrahim stated that the plaintiffs, who were led by the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, did not possess the legal standing to file the suit.
As a result, the presiding judge struck out the case due to a lack of jurisdiction.
Furthermore, the court upheld the preliminary objection brought forward by INEC, alongside similar objections raised by other parties wishing to join the lawsuit.
The judge ruled that the plaintiffs failed to prove that INEC had ever recognized the alleged interim NWC, or that they possessed the rightful authority to take legal action on behalf of the main political party.
