On July 18, 2024, the Court of Appeal in Abuja had unanimously supported the Bayelsa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s decision to affirm Diri’s reelection, which took place on November 11, 2023. The appellate court’s three-judge panel dismissed the appeal filed by Sylva and the APC, seeking to overturn the Tribunal’s ruling.
Earlier, on May 27, 2024, the Justice Adekunle Adeleye-led tribunal had dismissed the petition challenging Governor Diri’s reelection, ruling that the APC and Sylva had failed to provide credible evidence to support their claims against the election results.
