Shaibu Speaks On Exposing ‘Obaseki’s Atrocities’

Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, has threatened to reveal some of the atrocities of his former boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki, if the latter continues to insult him.

Shaibu, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this statement to journalists after attending Mass on Sunday, marking the beginning of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria in Auchi, Edo State.

He expressed frustration at having endured over 15 months of Obaseki’s behavior, suggesting that his former boss has mistaken his silence for weakness.

Shaibu called for greater accountability and urged religious leaders to strip political officeholders, including Obaseki, of their unearned divine titles.

He condemned the title “God’s Servant Governor” given to Obaseki as undeserved and misleading.

He criticized Obaseki’s actions, arguing they are contrary to the principles of servant leadership.

Shaibu listed issues such as conflicts with the church, revocation of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) for poor citizens, demolition of opposition politicians’ homes, attacks on political leaders, disregard for the rule of law, withholding federal government aid, misappropriation of public funds, contract inflation, unfulfilled promises, imposition of governorship candidates, and the use of thugs against opposition parties.

Shaibu also called on Christians, particularly the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Edo, to avoid complicity in injustice and to uphold their role as the last bastion of hope for citizens, steering clear of political influence.
