The Senate has commenced the screening of seven ministerial nominees announced by President Bola Tinubu last Wednesday.
This exercise took place in the red chamber on Wednesday, following a postponement from Tuesday.
The process began with Nentawe Yilwatda, who has been nominated to succeed Betta Edu as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

To facilitate the screening, the Senate temporarily suspended its rules to admit the nominees.
The other candidates for screening include Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu for Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi for Minister of Labour and Employment, and Jumoke Oduwole for Minister of Industry.
Also listed are Idi Maiha as the Minister for the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State for Education.
President Bola Tinubu had, last Wednesday, dismissed five ministers, reassigned ten others to new portfolios, and appointed these seven new ministers pending Senate confirmation.
