The Edo State Government has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of attempting to destabilize the state by summoning its Accountant General, Julius Anelu, along with four other officials.
In a letter titled “Loans and Agricultural Interventions Granted to Edo State Government from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) from 2018 to date,” Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency invited Anelu and the officials from the state’s Treasury Office to its Benin City office.
However, Edo State’s Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, clarified that the agricultural loan in question “has since been repaid by the State Government.”
