The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, has passed away.
Sources close to the judiciary revealed that Justice Adeyeye died on Monday, November 4, 2024, at a tertiary hospital in Ekiti after a brief illness.
He was 64 years old.
Born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, in the Ekiti East Local Government Area, Adeyeye was called to the bar in 1986 and began his legal career.

He started as a state counsel in the old Ondo State civil service before relocating to Ekiti in 1996, where he became a member of the Judiciary Service Commission.
In 2002, he was appointed to the Ekiti State High Court bench, and over the years, he served on several election petition tribunals, contributing significantly to the state’s judicial system.
Justice Adeyeye was appointed Chief Judge of Ekiti State on October 11, 2021, during the administration of former Governor Kayode Fayemi.
As of the time of this report, official details regarding his death remain unclear, as the state government has yet to issue a formal statement.
