Latest Petrol Price Across Nigeria – Wednesday, April 8, 2026

As of Wednesday, April 8, 2026, petrol prices across Nigeria have shifted following a significant price adjustment by the Dangote Refinery on Tuesday evening.

The hike, driven by rising international crude oil benchmarks and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, has already begun to impact pump prices at retail stations nationwide.

Latest Price Breakdown (April 8, 2026)

Dangote Refinery Gantry Price

  • New Price: ₦1,275 per litre

  • Previous Price: ₦1,200 per litre

  • Change: Increase of ₦75 (5.02%)

Retail Pump Prices (Estimated)

While the refinery sells at the gantry level, marketers typically add logistics, distribution, and margin costs. Currently, motorists are seeing the following rates at the pump:

  • NNPC Retail Stations: Selling around ₦1,261 – ₦1,290 (where stock is available).

  • Major Marketers (TotalEnergies, MRS, etc.): Selling between ₦1,320 – ₦1,350.

  • Independent Marketers: Prices in some areas, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) and Northern states, have climbed to between ₦1,370 and ₦1,420 per litre.

Key Market Driver: The “Middle East Factor”

A top official from the Dangote Refinery confirmed the price review on Tuesday night, stating:The adjustment is in line with global market trends. You are aware of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and how they have impacted crude oil prices. These are external factors that directly influence refined product pricing.”

The official further noted that the gantry price for Diesel was also reviewed upward significantly, jumping by ₦200 to ₦1,950 per litre, which is expected to drive up the cost of food transportation and logistics in the coming days.

Regional Price Variance (Snapshot)

Due to transportation costs from the Lagos-based refinery, prices vary by region:

  • Lagos & South-West: ₦1,310 – ₦1,340

  • Abuja (FCT): ₦1,370 – ₦1,400

  • South-East & South-South: ₦1,350 – ₦1,390

  • North-East & North-West: ₦1,385 – ₦1,425
