Renowned Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, widely recognized as Davido, has clarified that he presently holds no preferred presidential contender for the forthcoming 2027 general elections, explicitly pushing aside any potential partnership with the ruling All Progressives Congress.
During a Tuesday interview session broadcast on News Central TV, the music star addressed inquiries regarding whether he intends to maintain active political participation during the upcoming presidential showdown.
Responding to questions concerning political endorsements and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s declared backing for President Bola Tinubu, Davido emphasized that his individual political views remain entirely autonomous.
“My uncle, immediately he won, came out to declare his support for Tinubu, but for me, I’m not propelled to support anybody. I personally haven’t seen anybody,” he stated.
Reflecting on past political engagements, the recording artist noted that despite previously backing opposition figures and joining multi-party arrangements, his current stance stays neutral.
“In the past, yes, I’ve supported Atiku before when we were in PDP, and I supported in 2015 when APC first did the merger; my late uncle Isiaka Adeleke (Serubawon) was part of the APC, I campaigned then,” he said.
Nevertheless, he underscored that his outlook toward the 2027 ballot remains wide open, with the exception of the ruling administration.
“Right now I don’t have a presidential candidate. It might change, but it’s not going to be APC. Everybody should have their choice,” Davido added.
Davido’s statements arrive amidst intense public interest following his active participation throughout the Osun State election season, where he aggressively mobilized voters and advocated for clean, verifiable voting outcomes.
