The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he would have traveled to Osun State to assist the All Progressives Congress (APC) in capturing victory during the governorship contest if President Bola Tinubu had insisted on winning the election “at all costs.”
Wike shared this position on Tuesday while addressing media practitioners during an inspection exercise covering flood-vulnerable locations in Maitama, Abuja.
The minister was addressing inquiries regarding the final outcome of the Osun governorship race, which concluded with the triumph of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Wike, who maintains his affiliation with the PDP while openly backing the Tinubu administration, asserted that the APC could have easily clinched the victory had the President been resolved to secure a win regardless of the circumstances.
He remarked, “If the President had wanted to win the Osun State election at all costs, I would have been there and we would have won it, and there’s nothing the governor can do.”
The minister’s declaration arrived in the wake of the APC’s electoral setback in the state, where INEC declared Adeleke the official winner.
