Arise Television’s The Morning Show host, Rufai Oseni, has cautioned citizens against taking for granted that the results witnessed during the 2026 Osun State governorship election will automatically repeat themselves in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Oseni noted that the political environment and security conditions surrounding the 2027 polls will feature distinct complexities, cautioning that government influence utilized in Osun could scale up exponentially during the national elections.
During his broadcast on Monday, the media personality clarified that his earlier pre-election warnings regarding Osun were never meant to terrify the electorate, but rather to ready them for potential hurdles.
“Last week, when I was telling the people the challenges they would face, it was not to scare them. No, I believe in telling the people the truth so that they know how to react to dangers,” Oseni stated.
He noted that his philosophy centers on providing unvarnished risk evaluations to the public without attempting to downplay reality.
“Yes, same risk assessment. I like to say it the way it is. Tell them the risks involved, and I think it worked for the Osun people because they knew the risks involved. Don’t sugarcoat it for them,” he added.
Oseni strongly advised the public against gaining false security from the Osun outcome, emphasizing that 2027 will bring an entirely different reality.
“Just like I’m going to tell the Nigerian people the risks involved. If you think because Osun people stood up, it will be easy in 2027, you are foolish. You are delusional,” he warned.
In his view, political strategists are likely analyzing the flaws in past tactics and working to refine their execution ahead of 2027.
“2027 is going to be different from Osun. The federal might that they used and couldn’t execute, they will use it three times over. They will go back to the drawing board and try to perfect it,” Oseni remarked.
His observations follow closely on the heels of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) proclaiming Accord Party candidate Ademola Adeleke as the victor of the Osun governorship contest.
The election’s resolution has sparked widespread conversations concerning what the Osun results signify for the broader Nigerian political scene as the nation looks toward 2027.
Nevertheless, Oseni pressed voters to avoid treating the Osun victory as a blueprint, reminding everyone to stay fully aware of potential hurdles in the next voting cycle.
