United States District Judge Beryl Howell has granted Donald Trump-appointed attorney Jeanine Pirro an extra four days to disclose the historical drug-trafficking files associated with Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu.
As shared by Dr. Von Batten-Montague-York via a statement posted on X, Judge Howell emphasized that the legal proceedings have remained unresolved for a duration exceeding three years.
Reports previously indicated that Pirro sought a ten-day extension to fulfill the mandate regarding documents housed by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Nonetheless, Judge Howell approved a compressed window of just four additional days, establishing August 21, 2026, as the final deadline for fulfillment.
Von Batten described this latest turn of events as a renewed push by Pirro and the DOJ toward the publication of the documents, asserting that transparency is long overdue.
“We deeply appreciate US Attorney Pirro and the DOJ’s renewed motivation to release these documents, and we agree with Judge Howell. This case has been pending for three years. The time to release the Tinubu drug-trafficking files is now,” he wrote.
According to his remarks, broader strategic diplomatic ties between the United States and Nigeria ought not to impede the public disclosure of these records.
“As President Trump has indicated, our shared interests with Nigeria do not mean supporting an alleged drug trafficker,” he added.
