The presidential flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has disclosed that he will not participate in any subsequent presidential race if he fails to secure victory in the 2027 election.
The former Vice President made this disclosure during a Hausa-language media interview translated on Wednesday, addressing queries regarding his future political ambitions should the 2027 bid prove unsuccessful.
“No, I have said it before, right from this election, I will not contest again,” Atiku affirmed.
Encouraging the electorate to actively engage with the democratic process, Atiku called on citizens holding Permanent Voter Cards to step out and cast their ballots for the security of their collective future.
“First of all, I appeal to those who have voter cards, for their own sake, their families, and their future, to go out and vote. That is the solution to the problems they are facing,” he stated.
He further advised supporters to remain vigilant at voting venues to safeguard their ballots, adding, “After going out to vote, they should also stay, escort, and ensure that those votes are counted.”
Addressing public discussions concerning his physical readiness to administer the country, the opposition candidate maintained that his health remains robust.
“No doctor has declared that I am unfit in terms of health. I know my body, I know I am healthy, and I do not have a single defect,” Atiku concluded.
