Re-Elect My Husband, I Want To Enjoy Old Age – Remi Tinubu

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on voters across the South-East region to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition during the 2027 presidential polls, expressing her desire to experience a flourishing nation in her later years.

Speaking in Owerri, Imo State, on Wednesday at a women’s empowerment initiative, the First Lady pleaded with voters, stating, “Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better.”

She added, “I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age.”

She further noted that the initiative, executed through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, targets 18,500 beneficiaries nationwide, with 500 women per South-East state set to receive gas cylinders, ovens, generators, and industrial grinding equipment.

In a major boost to the exercise, Governor Hope Uzodimma augmented the package by providing empowerment tools for an additional 2,000 women in Imo State, expanding the total count of regional beneficiaries in the state to 2,500.

Prompted by the governor’s intervention, Mrs Tinubu pledged an extra financial grant of ₦100,000 for every participant in the state.

Emphasizing the broader objective of the project, she remarked, “Recognising the typical role women play in nation building, this is in line with the agenda of Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises economic growth and sustainable development for all Nigerians, particularly women.”

She subsequently tasked recipients to maximize the tools and grants to uplift their families, adding, “Let it serve as a foundation for creating a better life for you and your family.”

Praising the First Lady’s outreach, Governor Uzodimma affirmed Imo State’s commitment to supporting the President’s re-election bid in 2027.

The governor declared, “Let him know that Imo people are happy with him, that we are happy with his performance. Let him know that he is doing very well, that we stand with him and that we deeply appreciate his resolute commitment to a stronger, more prosperous, safer and more united Nigeria.”

Reinforcing his stance, Uzodimma assured, “I assure you that we will reciprocate this love. We will stand firmly behind our beloved President in January 2027. We will speak with one united, unequivocal voice to stand by those who have consistently stood by us.”

To climax the official visit, traditional leaders in Imo State conferred the traditional chieftaincy title of Osodieme on Mrs Tinubu in recognition of her supportive role to the presidency and dedication to societal advancement.
